FAQ

Can I pay off my humm agreement early?

Yes, you can pay off your humm Agreement early without any additional fees or charges.

The outstanding balance required to fully repay the agreement will be shown for each contract in the customer portal. Your contract will be automatically closed when the payment has been applied to your contract, and no further payments will be taken.

You can make additional payments at any time by logging in to your online customer portal, clicking on your agreement number starting with LAI-00, and selecting “Make Manual Payment”.

  • Additional payments are applied to reduce the outstanding balance.
  • Additional payments do not replace the scheduled contractual payment, which will be processed on the due date unless the outstanding balance has been fully repaid.
  • You can request by email that your monthly payments are recalculated after a manual payment has reduced, but not fully cleared, the balance. Repayments will be recalculated over the remaining loan term.

You can also make an early payment of a scheduled repayment.

  • Payment advice must be provided by email at least 24 hours before the scheduled repayment date, Monday to Friday. The early payment must be at least equal to the scheduled repayment, including the account keeping fee.
  • If advance notice is not provided, the scheduled repayment will be attempted on the due date.
  • Early payments do not reduce the overall number of scheduled contractual payments.
Can I change the terms of my contract?

After the agreement is settled, unfortunately, we are not able to amend its details. At the time of purchase, you will have the option to review the terms before completing the purchase, either in-store with the retailer’s sales representative or during online checkout.

It is important to review the terms because contract conditions differ depending on the retailer, purchase amount, interest and fees. Once you accept the terms, you will have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel the order with the retailer.

See the cancellation process details for more information.

What documents should I have ready before I apply?

1. Identification

  • Passport
  • Irish Driving Licence

We may also be able to accept documents such as European Driving Licences or Garda Age Card identification. The document must show your name and date of birth on the front page. Public Service Cards cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

2. Proof of earnings and PPS Number verification

  • Employed: A payslip from the last month.
  • Self-employed: A Notice of Self Assessment return or Form 11.
  • Receiving benefits: A Statement of Benefits.

If the document provided does not contain your PPS Number, an alternative document may be requested, such as a Tax Credit Certificate, Form 11 or medical card.

3. Bank statements and proof of address

Bank statements must be from within the last three months and show a minimum of 35 days of transactions.

We may request an alternative proof-of-address document dated within the past six months, such as:

  • A utility or landline telephone bill
  • A Department of Social Protection letter or Revenue certificate
  • An insurance policy
  • A mortgage loan offer
  • A lease or tenancy agreement
Can I obtain a quote before completing or accepting a purchase agreement?

To get a quote for a specific retailer, visit humm.ie and enter your selected partner into the search bar in the top-left corner. Select “Get a Quote” and enter the amount you wish to spend.

To submit an application, visit https://apply.humm.ie/s/.

When is my first payment due?

Your first payment date will depend on the terms of the contract you choose.

Where the available terms include an application fee, the fee is payable at the time of purchase.

For 0% APR plans, your first payment will be the initial monthly instalment, which is payable at the time of purchase.

For fortnightly contracts, the first payment is due at the time of purchase. The next payment will be due 14 days after the purchase date.

For Pay in 3 monthly contracts, the first payment is due at the time of purchase. The next payment will be due one month after the purchase date.

With other loan products, you may select your first payment date within one month of your purchase date. It is recommended that you choose a date that aligns with your expected income.

You can check your payment dates through your Customer Portal.

What retailers can I use my humm credit with?

You can view all humm retail partners by clicking here. You can browse by category and filter retailers by brand, location and purchase method, including in-store and online options.

Once you find your preferred partner, select “Get a Quote” and enter the amount you wish to spend. The available payment plans will then be displayed.

How does humm work?

humm is a retail instalment payment plan facility. It provides an alternative to paying with cash or a credit card for products offered by humm Retail Partners.

humm allows you to spread the cost of your purchase across payment instalments. Each retailer may offer different plans, so you should check the available plans with your selected retailer.

Complete a humm application using a supported web browser. If your finance application is approved, you can use the approval to make purchases from multiple humm Retail Partner stores.

Once approved, you can complete your purchase online or in-store by providing your mobile number at checkout. Before accepting the purchase contract, you will be able to review its terms.

Contract terms may differ depending on the retailer, purchase amount, interest and fees. You will also need to provide card details for future instalment payments.

A single approval can be used to purchase more than one product and may also be used across more than one participating store.

For information about interest, fees and interest-free options, choose your preferred retailer through the humm shopping page and select “Get a Quote”.

Am I eligible for humm?

To be eligible for humm, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide proof of your PPS Number and address.
  • Be an Irish citizen or permanent resident of Ireland.
  • Earn a minimum taxable income of €1,500 per month. A spouse or partner’s income is not taken into consideration.
  • Have a current credit or debit card and photographic identification.
  • Have a good credit history.

Approval and the maximum available amount cannot be predicted in advance. You must complete the application form and assessment process to receive a decision.

I don’t want to finance the entire purchase. Can I part-pay with humm?

When purchasing in-store, you can pay part of the purchase cost using humm and pay the remaining balance using cash or card.

Part-payments are not currently available through online checkout. For an online purchase, you must have a sufficient humm approval limit to cover the full amount being financed through humm.

Warning

If you do not meet the repayments on your loan, your account will go into arrears. This may affect your credit rating, which may limit your ability to access credit, a hire-purchase agreement, a consumer-hire agreement or a BNPL agreement in the future
